A Reckoning...

[You are dead.

Where you awaken is not of your cabin on the train but rather firm earth, the skies above you being nothing but an inky blackness as for as you can see. And yet throughout the darkness, you are surrounded by soft lighting and peculiar music playing all around you. When your senses become less muddled, you will notice that the music playing is upbeat and joyful almost. But let's face it, you are probably thinking this is some sort of creepy hell that you got yourself into after biting the bullet.

It all depends if you find circuses to be such a place because that is where you find yourself. The setting feels more antique than what you may assume a circus to look like, more Victorian themed than what one can be called. First the sound picks up and then you can smell something delectable in the air, catching popped corn and fried sweets and maybe something to drink? It's more than likely here.

Going down the main way, you can see some classic carnival games such as skee ball, ring toss, balloon popping if you are inclined to try and take your mind of the fact that you didn't have a choice in coming here. But despite the joyous air of the circus, there are not many people here that can help you out...or are there?


Lost souls just like yourself who met with the same horrible fate...perhaps an accord can be struck. After all, it looks like you will be here for awhile.]

WEEK 2

[No one is joining you yet again. All is quiet at the circus at the moment.]

[strangerpeople]

[Nothing has happened thus far to you. Other than reuniting with a dear friend and being pissy at a semi-retired Judge but that feels old hat to you, doesn't it? It's been calm since arrival and if it wasn't for the fact that you were all dead or that the circus is very much like a ghost town, it would feel like a small vacation.

Unfortunately, luck is not kind to your group today.

The air today is still, eerily so when you look up but upon first glance, you cannot notice something moving across the sky. And then...it moves downward at an alarming pace, towards your location. Every instinct is possibly telling you to run like hell but there is someone already moving towards the...wait, what the hell is it? The thing looks like part crocodile with some dead peacock feathers and some parts of a hippo with eyes. Lots of them.

And the person taunting and yelling at the incoming creature? None other than Eddie Kim. You can see his figure and his movements but his voice is lost to you. And then...the creature comes and opens its large gaping muzzle, swallowing Eddie whole and not giving him a chance to react. The creatures gives one big gulp and then takes notice of a new prey: you.]

[Emma wants to be sick at what she sees, but then that thing is turning its eyes on the rest of them.]

Everyone, prepare for a fight or find cover!

[She's no Rean Schwarzer, but she'll have to do. As it is, she's working on summoning up a large sphere of water to use as a projectile.]

Oh hells.

[That groan is coming from Yotsuyu who appears before Emma, snaps her fingers as a beam of light strikes the beast, the magpies and cats vanishing quickly from it as the monster snarls and roars in retailation. With Yotsuyu narrowing her eyes, she can only assume that it was not enough and her attack just made it furious. Snapping its massive muzzle, it rushes towards them in attack but the Composer steps forward and raises her hands up.]

Behind me, now!

[Just as she speaks, what appears to be a bubble surrounds them. However, seeing her face twist in concentration and determination, she calls to the others over the beast thrashing on the bubble, trying to get inside.]

You all have powers, don't you?! Hit that thing before I can't use this shield anymore!

((OOC: Monster Encounter Time! Use your abilities to cause damage to it before Yotsuyu's Barrier runs out! What determines your hits will be Good Old Fashion RNG via a 20 die. Good luck, Strangers and try not to die again.))

[ Uh. WOW. Okay. This was a thing that was happening.

Akko took a couple seconds to assess the situation, which was essentially that there was some weird creepy hybrid monster trying to eat them for dessert and Yotsuyu was keeping them from dying for now. She looked around the others nearby before coming up with something of a slightly reckless plan of attack. ]

Okay so uh... I have an idea but it's a bit crazy.

[ She then looked over to Jun after this, pointing toward the beast. ]

Hey, Jun! If I turn into my weapon form, think you could throw me at that thing with your power?

[icanhearscreams]

[Um.]

Yes, and I'll try to throw you back once you let go. Just... ugh.

['Be careful' is what he's trying to say, but Jun too tsun.]

Great! I completely trust you, so let's do this!!

[ Akko gives him a thumbs up and a grin, having complete faith in him. ]

[The clown isn’t thrilled to see this monster. Or that Yoyo is basically showing she can’t be beaten. But, to get over that, he’ll help in this fight because, you know, he doesn’t want to get eaten!

So, he let’s out a battle cry as he pulls his knives out of his fanny pack.]

LET’S GO YOU GIANT UGLY FREAK OF NATURE!

[He starts throwing, pulling out more knives to replace the ones he uses. Hopefully at least one hits the monster good.]

[Well, time to let that water ball go flying!

Which is, apparently, a direct hit, because, um, wow. Bob the RNG loves Emma today, I guess.

Eat a water missile, creepy thing.]

[Franciscus looks up, his eyes narrowing when he realizes who's taunting the monster.] Why did he-nevermind. [He focuses hard, summoning up a stream of flame aiming at the monster's eyes. It looks kind of like a Water-type, but maybe he can still distract it somehow.]

[ After having the confirmation that Jun would help, Akko willed herself into her weapon state. Resembling that of a bear trap. ]

Jun! NOW!!

[ Then being thrown right at the beast, as soon as she landed somewhere on the thing? She willed herself to snap shut on it. Not as hard as she could have but hey. It was her first time trying to do this! ]

[The creature at first does not realize its food wants to actually live until some dumb clown decides to hit it with a knife. It hisses as the weapon connects, attempting to shake it off. The fire attack from Franciscus, while a good effort, falls flat and the creature simply snaps its jaws, annoyed at the heat but doesn't do much damage to it overall.

But it's when Akko in weapon form is able to snap on one of the hippo-like parts that the creature shrieks, followed by a heavy water attack from Emma that it begins to bend its body around the barrier and starts to squeeze it. Bleeding and having a knife stuck in its body doesn't do any favors as it bangs its body, trying to shake off Akko's jaws. Meanwhile Yotsuyu keeps a hold of the barrier, biting her tongue trying not to throw an insult around.

[With Akko over there still clamped on, he pulls out one of the darts from the balloon game and throws it in an arc using his ability. ... Unfortunately it seems like he hit a more armored part...]

[Franciscus snarls, focusing on the knife this time and trying to heat it up. Hopefully heated metal will work better than actual fire.]

[Okay, Felicity of doesn't want to deal with this, but she also wants to not become some...thing's next meal today, so she's getting involved.

The best thing she's got, though, is her wire whip arm. It's probably not going to do much, but any damage is probably better than no damage, right?

She whips at the monster as much as she can from behind the barrier.]

[ This was such a weird sensation but she was staying attached to the thing as hard as she could, which was made difficult when it tried to shake her off. Internally huffing, Akko did everything she could to stay clamped on, even finding a way to tighten the sharp teeth of her weapon form together a little more firmly which had them digging in just a bit deeper.

If she could take a chunk out of this thing, that would be a plus. Especially since the thing was going to get her off of it probably soon. ]

C'mon guys we can do this!

[Akko can feel the flesh of the creature start to slip away due to her holding on and not letting go, the thrashing becoming more frantic as Jun's darts while not as effective, are still annoying. Felicity's timed whips do manage to loosen the beast's squeeze on the barrier but it's Francisus's hot knife that gets it in one of the better eyes, the monster howling and screeching as it pulls its lower body from the barrier, blood coming out as a result of the attacks.

However, the monster changes its tactic, widening its muzzle and begins to bite down on the barrier, trying to see if it can force itself that way. As for the barrier itself...small cracks are beginning to show as Yotsuyu can begin to feel more pressure. It's beginning to wear down...

[Franciscus winces as he looks up into the gaping maw of the beast. However, that also gives him another opportunity. He concentrates, before aiming another stream of fire, planning to send it right down the beast's throat.]

It's providing a target. Take advantage of it!

[Right. Time to try to throw one of those darts down the thing's throat!]


[... Aaaand... not so much.]

[ It's kinda hard to see from here but she hears Fran and knows he must be attacking with fire. So uh... time to revise her plan. ]

Okay Jun! Bring me back and then immediately throw me again!!

[ With that said, she focuses and unlatches the jaws of her weapon form just long enough for Jun to bring her back to where they were. Only to toss her out towards the creature - but not upwards thankfully. Not that it.. will probably do much with how hasty they're doing things this time. ]

[All right, it sure is providing a target, so it's time to rev up another beam of water and try to blast it--

Except, whoops, somehow it all reflects right off of Yotsuyu's barrier and comes and blasts Emma right back.

She is now soaked, on her backside, and thoroughly dazed. Uh, she'll probably be out for a bit.]

[He hit it. He hit the monster and it feels goooooooooood.

More knives are going the monster's way, this time with a bit better aim. All the while the clown's laughing like a mad man.]

[Unlike the previous try, it seems some attacks felt a bit more...weaker this time. While Akko was able to hit the beast, the attack didn't do as much and poor Emma...well, her luck sucks at the moment. Jun's darts unfortunately didn't show much either. But there is at least some hope in the form of Franciscus and that one crazy ass clown with the knives: both attacks connect and as for the one that went into its mouth, the heat makes the creature screech and release the barrier from its grip, thrashing around on the ground in hideous pain. And yet its mouth is still open but can you blame it with fire being poured in it and sharp pointy things?

Meanwhile the barrier's cracks have grown and Yotsuyu can be seen sweating from the power she has been using to hold it up. But seeing the monster screeching for dear life makes her grunt and call out:]

It isn't dead yet but it seems damn close! One more round should do it and hurry up! This thing can't hold up for much longer!

[Jun repositions himself slightly so that he can get a better view of the creature's mouth and throws the dart, sending it in an arc with his power and trying to keep the momentum of the dart going.]

Be careful of it thrashing, Akko!

[Concern? What concern? He will deny this concern.]

[They're getting close to killing this thing, and at this point Felicity may want it dead the most. Her whip still can't reach far, but maybe she can distract the monster with it, just a little bit?

She's taking a long nap after this]
