at once short of life, and long of sorrow.

Well, obviously. You remember how you died. It was...not fun, to say the least. But hey, at least you're off that ship, right?
Except...you don't know exactly where you are now. It seems like a house, but if it is, it's...a work in progress. Most of the rooms are empty, and your steps echo up through the marble columns and down faint mosaics on the tiled floor. The few windows you find have a green light gleaming through them; you can't really see anything beyond the eerie light.
It feels like you're in a temple of some kind. The columns and mosaics seem to indicate it is something like that-it's certainly reminiscent of something out of an ancient culture, perhaps even one you're familiar with. For some reason, though, it's clear someone-or something-lives here. One of the rooms to the south is stuffed with pizza boxes. Another, larger room has a makeshift futon in one of the corners. There are imprints of multiple footsteps all through the dusty floors as you look around, many of them leading to a small alcove to the west. And-
and there's a giant van. Just. hanging out there. Completely out of place with the seemingly ancient decor. And inside, there is the sound of light snoring.
Ok then. You're apparently not alone in death, after all.]

Dear Daddy
We got your letter. It seems like it's the most reliable way to communicate, at least for now. I tried to summon you. It didn't work. Channeling didn't work either, though Alastor thinks, based on what was in your letter and what we'd already deduced that you probably don't have a way to see what's going on here, so maybe there's not a way to contact us as directly as that. After all, apparently you're in the Underworld, and that might limit access, I guess? It's not something I'd heard of before, but neither is a lot of what's happened here.
Thank you for still trying, and for finding out how we actually can communicate. I wish you were still here, but for now... it's nice that we can do this much, at least.
We haven't really learned that much up here, except that Zack seems to be very central to whatever is going on. Most of the people here don't seem to blame him for it. He's very strange, though, and I'm not really sure what to think of him.
We haven't found a way out, yet, but given that you are in Hades, it seems like there's a chance that we might be able to get you out.
I wish I had something more useful to send to you. There are a lot of connections that have been surfacing to Greece and Hell, as well as the previous rounds of the game, but I'm not sure how much good any of that is, especially now.

He smiles softly at the letter, reading the words 'I tried to summon you.' Perhaps he'd truly felt the barest twinge of that a week ago? Or perhaps it was just wishful thinking, and nothing more. But the fact that she'd tried alone....filled him with such an indescribable feeling, and he blinks away the sudden blurriness in his eyes.
Still, it was enough to get this from her, and he carefully folds it up and places it in his pants pocket.

Wee got yur message, and I'll spare yew the swaring from wen I saw it. The trimd down verson is that I was alredee a Devil Arm, so this whole thing is lyke a slap tew the fase. It is useful tew knoe, thoe, sinse I am sumething of an expert on the subject. Several of us hav managd tew evolv ar powers, and I can giv advise for yew: trie tew find an emotion that resonates with yur new power. Devil Arms have souls, soe erning ther respect is imporetant. I'm farely sur yours is named Yamato, and is a veree important wepon with the abilitee tew cut space.
Spekeing of the Yamato, I found the bodee of its last owner, along with his bruthr...whoe happens tew bee my master. I included a drop of solid demeon blod to pae Charon's return fee, soe send a letter bak answering if ther are peeple ther named Dante or Vergil.

I miss you. I pretty much moved into your room, but it doesn't smell like you anymore. Just like everything here, it only smells like blood.
It did hurt. I wish... I wish you'd told me. Even if Daddy was sure he had to do what he did, I wish I could have said goodbye. I guess that's what this is, in a way, even if it's also saying hello again. 🙂
You said that you're going to find a way back. I'm counting on you, okay? I'm staying strong like you asked me to. We're working on our end too, and hopefully we'll be able to see you again.
There's some stories of morals who manage to escape Hades, after having died and been brought there. It's tricky to do in the stories, and it usually doesn't work, but it's possible. Just be sure not to look back when you find the way to leave, okay?
